Speaker Bios:
Charles Mathieson is the executive director of Rogers Cybersecure Catalyst, Ryerson University’s centre for cybersecurity innovation and collaboration. Charles brings extensive experience in public administration, law and finance to this role. Most recently, Charles served as chief of staff and director of policy for the Ontario Minister of Economic Development and Growth. In these positions, he worked closely with private sector and government leaders to develop and implement the province’s strategy to make Ontario a global leader in technology innovation and commercialization. Prior to joining government, Charles was senior legal counsel at BMO Capital Markets, practiced law at Torys LLP, worked as a technology researcher at Forrester Research and was a freelance business journalist for The Globe and Mail and Canadian Business Magazine.
Dan Mathieson is in his fifth term as Mayor of the City of Stratford and during his tenure, he has been a member of numerous boards and committees. He is the Past Chair of the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC), Past Chair of Kings University College at Western University, Chair of the Stratford Police Services Board, Board Member of Hampton Financial Corporation and serves on many local boards and organizations. Dan was awarded the Alumni Award of Excellence from the Master of Public Administration at Western University and he was the 2016 Western University, Public Administration Distinguished Lecturer in Residence. He has received the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal, as well as the Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee Medal. Dan holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Guelph and a Masters of Public Administration Degree from the University of Western Ontario. He is a graduate of the ICD.D Certification Program from the Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto.
Mark Falbo has spent greater than twenty-five years as an executive manager and entrepreneur possessing global legal, financial and strategic management skills and experience. Mark also has a long history of community and civic leadership and involvement. As the President of the Mircom Group of Companies, Mark is responsible for all facets, geographies and markets of the business. With multiple global offices, Mircom is a global technology company providing sophisticated Fire Detection and Alarm, Security and Communications and Smart Building Systems Technologies to clients in over 100 countries. Mircom has been named a Canada’s Best Managed Company – Platinum Standard Member, a Branham300/ICT250 Company, a Profit Magazine Canada’s Fastest Growing 500 company, a US Edison Award Gold Medalist, 2015 Ontario Exporter of the Year and a Vaughan Chamber of Commerce Lifetime Achievement winner. Mark is a graduate of the University of Toronto, Faculty of Arts & Science as well as the Faculty of Law, and the Rotman School of Management (incl. Grand Ecole de Paris, MBA Exchange Program). He was called to the Ontario Bar in 1997 and is a Member of the Law Society of Upper Canada. He is also a 2010 Fellow of Quantum Shift (Executive Program) at the Ivey School of Business, University of Western Ontario.
