SSMCOC 136th Annual General Meeting

SAVE THE DATE! As required under the provisions of the Boards of Trade Act, the Sault Ste. Marie Chamber of Commerce will hold its 136th Annual General Meeting on Thursday, October 23rd, 2025.



The business portion of the meeting will include:

  • the election of the Chamber's board of directors
  • overviews of the 2024-2025 SSMCOC fiscal year, ended June 30th, 2025, including reports from the President, the Chief Executive Officer, and the Treasurer
  • the approval of new members for the year ended June 30th, 2025
 

Keynote Speaker: Rob Brewer, President & CEO, PUC Services Inc.

 

We are pleased to announce the keynote speaker for the afternoon: Rob Brewer, President & Chief Executive Officer of PUC Services Inc.

Rob Brewer is President & CEO of
PUC Services Inc., which manages electric transmission and distribution systems within Sault Ste. Marie and water treatment and distribution systems throughout Ontario.

Since joining PUC in 2018, he has driven innovation, expanded the company's footprint province-wide, and significantly increased enterprise value. Under his leadership, PUC has become a national leader in grid modernization, highlighted by the Sault Smart Grid—the first community-wide smart grid in Canada—which is already delivering improved reliability, lower energy costs, and measurable reductions in greenhouse gas emissions.

Rob has also led key initiatives, including the launch of Watertight Lining Solutions Inc., utilizing robotic technology for water pipe rehabilitation, and PUC Transmission, a partnership with Algoma Steel Inc. to support electric ARC steelmaking.

During Rob’s tenure at PUC, the company has received several provincial and national recognitions, including the Electrical Safety Authority’s Worker Safety Award in 2024 and being named one of Canada’s Top 100 Small and Medium Employers in the same year.

He holds an Hon. B.Sc. in Biochemistry from McMaster University, an MBA in Accounting, and Executive Certificates in Strategy & Innovation from MIT. Before PUC, he founded and led a successful vegetation management company with 165 staff across North America.
