About this Event

Registration is now open for our Eastern Canada 2020 Executive Summit featuring the Right Hon. Paul Martin.

This exclusive event will bring together senior executives and thought leaders for a dialogue on top issues affecting Canadian business. Participants will hear from our President and CEO, the Hon. Perrin Beatty, PC, OC, former Prime Minister the Right Hon. Paul Martin and some of Canada’s most influential business leaders.

Summit Overview

The event will consist of two panel discussions that will focus on the post-COVID-19 economy and strategies for how our country and workforce can emerge stronger.

Panel 1: Harnessing Canada’s Tax System for Recovery

Looking towards recovery, the federal government can choose to spend money it doesn’t have or mobilize private capital for targeted recovery investments and lower the cost of doing business through micro tax reforms. Building on the work of our Think Growth initiative, this session will explore how Canada’s tax system can be harnessed for inclusive recovery and growth for Canadians and businesses of all size.

Panel 2: Getting Canadians Back to Work: The Impact of the Pandemic and the Future of Talent

Employment may not return to pre-crisis levels at any point soon. Available jobs and the skills required will shift. Employers might increasingly look to automation to maintain operations during future crises and reduce risk. Canadians will need reskilling, upskilling and skills training programs to get them back to work. Education and training will also change, including a greater need for online learning and durable skills, with a focus on both work-integrated and lifelong learning. Ensuring all Canadians have opportunities to participate in the recovery will be essential for inclusive growth and widespread job creation. This session will explore these themes, what it will take to get Canadians back to work and the future of talent.
